Bekah Muta

Bekah Muta is a third-year student at the University of Minnesota Law School. She graduated from Iowa State University with her B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Criminal Justice in 2023. As a law student, Bekah has primarily worked in criminal appeals as a law clerk at the Anoka County Attorney’s Office and then at the Office of the Minnesota Appellate Public Defender. She has also enjoyed her experiences as a judicial extern and as a certified student practitioner in Minnesota Law’s Clemency Project Clinic. Bekah strives to develop a deeper understanding of how the criminal legal system impacts individuals, groups, and communities, and she plans to leverage her leadership aptitudes, background in psychology and sociology, and passion for the law to advocate for criminal justice reform. She is excited to contribute to CIC’s meaningful work to promote the best interests of children affected by parental incarceration.
